Providing Affordable Workforce Housing to Our Community
The role of NHFH is to raise funds to build homes and purchase land; select families as homeowners; supervise construction; and administer the mortgages. N.H.F.H. began building homes in 1993. As of 2023, Nassau Habitat completed its 50th home. Our most recent build was our first duplex!
Homes are built for families meeting the income eligibility requirements and demonstrate a need for safe, affordable housing. Donations, grants, and fundraising activities help finance construction. Volunteer labor is also an essential element to our mission, helping to keep costs down. The homes are sold according to income levels of qualified families through an interest free mortgage issued by N.H.F.H.
N.H.F.H. does not offer short-term housing, rental housing or immediate occupancy. Habitat families are selected without regard to religion, race, ethnic background, family status, or disability. We abide by the Equal Housing Opportunity Act.
